What Does the SASSA Status Page Actually Look Like? Preview

Updated on 22 May 2026

This page is a PREVIEW only - all examples are mockups

Nothing on this page is the real SASSA form. Numbers, names and dates are fake. The mockups exist so you know what to expect when you check your real status. To actually check your status, use the green button at the bottom of each section, which sends you to the official SASSA SRD portal.

About this preview

SASSA's SRD R370 status check at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status shows different responses depending on your application: Approved, Pending, Declined, Referred, or Cancelled - each with its own colour, layout and follow-up steps. If you have never used it before, the screen can be confusing. This page walks you through every response with a labelled mockup so you know what to expect before you log in.

  • All examples below are visual mockups built by OurPower, not screenshots of the real SASSA system.
  • We use our brand colours (green and orange), not SASSA's, so you do not confuse this preview with the real portal.
  • Every example has an “EXAMPLE” watermark across it.
  • To check your real status, click any of the green buttons that link to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.

Step 1: What the SASSA status check form looks like

When you open the official portal, you see a simple form asking for your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used when you applied for SRD. Both fields are required. There is one Submit button.

Use the button below to open the real form at SASSA. Your details stay between you and SASSA - nothing on this preview page sends or stores any information.

Or use our independent helper at ourpower.co.za/sassa/srd/status-check - it submits to the same official endpoint without storing anything.

Step 2: What “Approved” looks like

If SASSA has approved your SRD R370 for a given month, the response shows the month, the word Approved, the R370 amount, a payment date, and how the money will reach you (bank transfer, Postbank Gold Card, or cash collection).

Payment channelBank transfer (FNB)
Your R370 will be paid into your nominated bank account on the payment date.

When your real status shows Approved, you will receive R370 on the listed payment date. Payment can take a day or two to clear once SASSA has sent it - this is normal.

Step 3: What “Approved - No Pay Date” looks like

Sometimes SASSA approves your payment but does not yet have a confirmed pay date. The response shows Approved and R370 as normal, but the payment date area says “Pending” or “TBC” or simply a blank. This is normal and means SASSA is still scheduling the batch.

Your payment is approved but the date has not yet been scheduled. Check back in a few days.

Do not panic if you see “Pending” in the date field while the rest of the response is Approved. This is normal in the first week of each month and usually resolves itself within a few days as SASSA finalises the payment schedule.

Step 4: What “Declined” looks like

If SASSA has declined your application for a given month, the response shows Declined along with a specific reason. Common reasons include “Means Income Source Identified”, “Identity Verification Failed”, “UIF Registered”, or “Alternative Income Source Identified”.

You have 90 days from this decline to lodge an appeal at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals.

Declined responses always show the reason. Click your specific reason below for a focused guide on what it means and how to appeal:

Step 5: What “Pending” looks like

If your application is still being processed, the response shows Pending. This usually appears in the first two weeks after you apply or reconfirm, while SASSA cross-checks your details against Home Affairs, SARS, UIF and credit bureaus.

SASSA is still processing your application. Most pending statuses resolve within 7 to 30 days.

Pending means SASSA has received your application and is still doing the means test and identity checks. Wait at least two weeks before contacting SASSA - most pending statuses resolve on their own within 7 to 30 days.

Step 6: What “Referred” looks like

A Referred response means your application has been flagged for review by the SASSA fraud unit. This is not the same as declined - it just means a manual review is needed before a final decision can be made. Common triggers are name mismatches, multiple applications, or shared banking details with another SRD applicant.

StatusReferred
ReasonReferred to SASSA Fraud Unit for review
AmountR370 (if cleared)
Payment dateOn hold pending review
Your application is under manual review. This is not a decline. Wait for the outcome before reapplying.

If your status shows Referred, do not panic and do not reapply - that can make things worse by creating duplicate applications. Wait for SASSA to complete the manual review, which usually takes 30 to 60 days.
