How do I check my SRD R370 status?
Visit the official SRD status page at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status. Enter your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you registered with. Click Submit to see your status for each month. Statuses include Approved, Pending, and Declined. You can check as often as you like at no cost. For a detailed walkthrough, see our SRD status check guide.
How much is the SRD grant in 2026?
The SRD grant pays R370 per month in 2026. It was increased from R350 to R370 in April 2024. The amount is set by the government and may change in future budgets. Unlike permanent SASSA grants, the SRD is renewed annually and the amount is reviewed each year.
When are SRD payments made each month?
SRD R370 payments are processed in batches toward the end of each month, typically between the 24th and the last business day. Payments do not run on weekends or public holidays. Once your status shows "Paid," it can take 2 to 3 business days for funds to reflect in your bank account. Cash collection payments follow a similar schedule.
What does "Approved - No Pay Date" mean?
This status means your SRD has been approved for the month, but a specific payment date has not been assigned yet. This typically appears during the payment window as SASSA processes payments in batches. You do not need to take any action. Check your status again in a day or two and a payment date should appear.
How do I appeal a declined SRD application?
Go to the official appeals portal at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals. Enter your ID number and cellphone number, verify with the OTP sent to your phone, select the declined month, explain why you believe the decline is incorrect, and upload supporting documents such as bank statements. Appeals are handled by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) and typically take 60 to 90 days.
Can I reapply after being declined?
You do not need to reapply. Your SRD application remains active and SASSA reassesses your eligibility each month. If you are declined for one month, you may be approved the next month if your circumstances have changed. However, you should reconfirm your details if SASSA requests it. If you believe the decline was wrong, you can appeal within 90 days for that specific month.
How do I change my phone number for SRD?
If you still have access to your old phone, you can update your number on srd.sassa.gov.za. If you have lost your phone or your number was changed without your permission, call the SASSA toll-free line at 0800 60 10 11 and request a phone number update. SASSA will verify your identity and send a secure link via SMS. You may need to take a selfie for security verification.
How do I update my banking details for SRD?
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and select "Change Banking Details." Enter your ID number and verify with an OTP. Submit your new bank account details. The account must be in your own name. Allow one payment cycle for the change to take effect. If you change mid-month, your next payment may go to the new account the following month.
Who qualifies for the SRD R370 grant in 2026?
To qualify, you must be aged 18 to 59, living in South Africa, with monthly income below R624. You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, recognised refugee, or valid asylum seeker. You cannot be receiving any other SASSA grant, UIF, or NSFAS benefits. You must use your own ID number and a cellphone number in your name.
How long does SRD approval take?
After applying, your initial application is usually assessed within a few days to several weeks. Some cases that require identity verification with Home Affairs can take longer. Once approved, payment is processed in the next available batch toward the end of the month. Each subsequent month, SASSA reassesses automatically.
Can I cancel my SRD and reapply later?
Yes. You can cancel your SRD application on srd.sassa.gov.za. If you want to reapply later, use the "Reinstate" option on the same website. Enter your ID and cellphone number, verify with OTP, and follow the steps. You do not need to create a new application from scratch.
Is the SRD grant permanent?
The SRD grant is not a permanent grant. It was introduced as a temporary measure during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been renewed annually by the government since then. As of 2026, it continues to be extended on a year-by-year basis. The government has indicated it may be replaced by a more permanent social support programme in the future, but no date has been set for this.
